The first race of the 2023 Triple Crown Trail is the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park this Sunday. A field of eight 3YOs has been drawn and Victory Formation has been tabbed as the 6-5 morning-line favorite. Post time is 5:10 p.m. Eastern Time.

Travers Stakes Racing Roundup

Occasionally I will profile a race that is not on the Kentucky Derby Trail and in the Travers Stakes (G1) this Saturday at Saratoga Racecourse there are three horses I like as potentials to finish in the money or, perhaps, upset.

Rich Strike is 10-1 on the morning line and he was my pick to upset in the Kentucky Derby. Gilded Age and Ain’t Life Grand are horses I profiled as yearlings at auction, and they have the breeding be a factor in this race.

Last but not the least, Epicenter has been tabbed as the 7-5 morning-line favorite. I liked him in the Kentucky Derby, and I like him in this race, too.

Post time for the Travers Stakes is 5:44 p.m. Eastern Time.

Well, we’ve come to the end of the Triple Crown Trail and this Saturday a moderate field of eight 3YO Thoroughbreds will go starting gate in the “Test of Champions” at Belmont Park for the 154^th running of the Belmont Stakes (G1). We the People, a horse I profiled as a yearling at auction, has been tabbed the 2-1 morning line favorite. Post time for the Belmont is 6:44 p.m. ET.

We’ve come to the end of the road to Kentucky Derby 148 and this Saturday at Churchill Downs Zando will go to the starting gate as the 3-1 morning-line favorite. Post time for the race is 6:57 p.m. Eastern Time.

Messier (8-1) and Tiz the Bomb (30-1) are horses I profiled as yearlings and they look good.

Santa Anita Derby Racing Roundup

Hello everyone. Welcome to the 21^st Century Thoroughbred.

Well, we’ve almost reached the end of the trail with only three major Kentucky Derby points races left to be run this Saturday: the Wood Memorial Stakes, the Blue Grass Stakes and the Santa Anita Derby.

All three of those races will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock beginning at 4:30 ET. At Santa Anita Park, Messier has been tabbed the even money morning-line favorite in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). Post time is 5:30 p.m. ET.

Messier is a horse I profiled as a yearling at auction and with an A+++ Classic Champion Thoroughbred Profile® he has the best breeding of all the horses entered in this race.
